Hi, I'm Rachel
I'm an integrative therapist and counsellor based in Stockport, offering counselling and therapy both in person and online.
I provide a warm, supportive space where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with anxiety or low mood, facing a difficult life transition, or simply feeling stuck, my aim is to help you feel heard, understood and supported.
" we don’t need to become someone different to live a meaningful life; we need space to understand who we already are."
A little more about me
I believe therapy works best when there is a genuine and trusting relationship between therapist and client. Building that relationship is at the heart of my work, and I strive to create a space where you can be yourself without fear of judgement.
Together, we'll create a space where you can explore your experiences with curiosity, compassion and care, developing a deeper understanding of yourself and the challenges you're facing.
My Background
Before training as a therapist, I worked as a lawyer in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. While the experience was rewarding in many ways, it also gave me first-hand experience of the impact that stress, burnout and living out of alignment with our values can have on wellbeing.
Over time, this led me to reflect more deeply on what truly matters and sparked a growing interest in understanding ourselves, navigating life's challenges, and creating lives that feel meaningful, balanced and sustainable.
Ultimately, that journey inspired me to retrain as a therapist and establish Less Stressed Living.
The Philosophy Behind Less Stressed Living
A common belief is that stress, anxiety and difficult emotions are problems to be eliminated. But life inevitably involves challenges, uncertainty, discomfort and change.
The philosophy behind Less Stressed Living is simple: a less stressful life doesn't come from fighting ourselves or constantly trying to be different. It comes from understanding ourselves more deeply, making space for our experiences as they are, and living in line with what matters most to us.
Rather than seeing anxiety, stress or difficult emotions as signs that something is wrong with us, we can begin to approach them with curiosity. Sometimes they may be drawing our attention to something important — a need that is not being met, a boundary that needs to be set, or an aspect of our lives that has drifted away from what matters most.
For me, therapy isn't about fixing people. It's about creating space to better understand yourself and your experiences, develop a different relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, and move towards a life that feels more balanced, meaningful and less stressful.
How I Work
As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of approaches including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Being integrative means I can tailor therapy to your individual needs rather than expecting you to fit into a particular model. Every person is unique, and together we'll find an approach that feels right for you.
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, accepted and understood.
My role isn't to tell you what to do or offer quick fixes. Instead, I provide a space where you can explore your experiences, deepen your self-understanding, make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings, and reconnect with what matters most to you.
